CheapTickets.nl, the largest provider of airline tickets in the Netherlands, offers a solution to its travelers. A special application on your smart phone keeps you up to date with all relevant information for the flight you have booked. This ranges from an online check-in reminder to the number of the baggage belt where your luggage is waiting.
The application is already available for iPhone; CheapTickets.nl will soon offer the application for other platforms as well.
For the development of the application, CheapTickets.nl works together with Rotterdam based company ‘the Sound of Data’. “As the first online travel agent in the Netherlands, CheapTickets.nl offers its travelers the possibility to be proactively informed about changes and the status of a booked flight” says Jeroen van Velzen, CEO of the Sound of Data.“We are seeing a strong, increasing demand for these kind of mobile services in both the Netherlands and Western Europe. We expect the smart phone to have an enormous impact on the travel industry and the booking behavior of the traveler.”
“This application is only the beginning”, says Lieke Fransen, brand manager at CheapTickets.nl. “Smart phones and other mobile devices are becoming more and more popular and they provide an important extra sales channel for an online agent such as CheapTickets.nl. This year, the iPhone application My CheapTickets is being upgraded to a real time booking application, so the traveler can make flight reservations and pay through their mobile device.”
The iPhone application My CheapTickets can be downloaded from the Apple store for free.
